The flowers are generally bell to open-bell shaped, similar to some tulip species. They will greatly enhance any shrub when climbing through or over, and great for enhancing ground cover. They grow extremely well in the warmer parts of the country, as well as the cooler.

This group all need hard pruning in late winter (xC).

Vigorous semi-herbaceous, flowers pink deeper bars, open bell shaped, pink anthers. 4cm dia. (xC) Suitable cut flower. The flowers stand up like lily flowering tulips and make an excellent ground cover.

Vigorous semi-herbaceous, flowers cerise pink w. silver margins, open bell shaped, cherry purple centre. 5cm dia. Midsummer-autumn (xC) Suitable cut flower.

Vigorous semi-herbaceous, flowers luminous cherry red, open bell-shaped, cream stamens. 5cm tepals x4-6. The reddest you can have in Clematis. (xC) Suitable cut flower. Grow over lower shrubs!

Vigorous semi-herbaceous, flowers outside creamy pink-mauve pagoda shaped 4cm, inside creamy pink veined throughout, anthers green-cream. (xC) Suitable cut flower.

('Bees Jubilee' x texensis)(Fretwell, 1984)
Miniature lily-tulip flowers in a luminous pink with a deep vibrant pink central bar, outside pale whitish pink. Tepals x4. Anthers yellow. Summer-autumn. (xC) Best seen clambering over low shrub or so. Also known as "The Princess of Wales" but had to be renamed. Botanic rules!!
